This week we are at the annual Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) #LearningForward Conference at booth #619 of the Cobo Center in Detroit, Michigan! It is one of the Midwest’s largest educational technology conferences with 5000+ educators from across Michigan, the region, and Canada.

Though today we build technology to serve the broad communication needs of all students and school staff, FrontRow began life in 1963 as Phonic Ear, a company focused on the needs of students with hearing impairment and their parents, audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and teachers of the deaf and hard-of-hearing. It was through our dedicated work within those communities that we pioneered the use of wireless audio technology in the classroom. It was also through the encouragement of dedicated hearing health professionals that we developed listening solutions for the student body at large. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all of you.

One of the things that surprises our end-users, is the level of customization available with our products and the versatility of our easy-to-implement solutions. Though the first stakeholders one may consider for classroom sound and education technology are students, teachers and administrators, those involved in facilities play a crucial role in helping streamline classroom communications and school connectivity.

One of the things we take pride in here at FrontRow is keeping our finger on the pulse of the education sector’s needs. That means checking in with teachers and administrators to discover any pain points they may have within their classroom technology usage.

If you run a school in a residential neighborhood, you've probably gotten complaints about...yep, bells! Bells on the weekend. Bells on holidays. We even have students blogging about this insult to the common peace.

Great news! Now schools can install an IP based intercom and paging system in every room without breaking budgets.
Our new IP Intercom Speaker Kit lets you use existing networks and FrontRow Conductor’s user-friendly and reliable experience for “orchestrating” essential communications and emergency alerts, to keep students and staff on time, informed, and safe.
Many rooms on campus don’t require the voice and media amplification or advanced control that are part of the FrontRow ezRoom solution. These rooms – teacher’s lounge, library, locker rooms and more – still need paging and intercom coverage to make sure bells, announcements and emergency alerts are heard and so that staff can communicate with administrators.
The IP Intercom Speaker Kit replaces a 2x2 ceiling tile, mounts flush in a drop ceiling grid and includes a separate microphone that provides two-way communication between the room and the front office. And because our IP Intercom Speaker Kit is POE enabled, there is no need to run AC power to the locations where these will be installed. If used in larger spaces such as libraries or locker rooms that need more coverage, up to three more speakers can be added (power supply needed).
